Glenn Lester Young, 89, of Epoch Senior Health Care, Weston, formerly of Level Acres Road, Attleboro, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015. He was the husband of the late Joanne G. (Cheek) Young to whom he was married on October 20, 1947 and passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Born in Blandford, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 19, 1926, he was a son of the late Borden H. and Florence (Meisner) Young. He was raised and educated in Nova Scotia and resided in Waltham from 1960 until 1990 when he moved to Attleboro. Mr. Young was a gifted woodworker and was the owner and operator of G. L. Young Woodworking, Waltham. He was a former trustee of the Ormond Holiday Club, Ormond Beach, Florida and was an active member and trustee of Centenary United Methodist Church, Attleboro. Always giving back, Mr. Young was quick to do a project, help a friend in need and opened his heart and doors to friends and strangers alike. He gave his heart and talent for many years to Camp Celiac, Rhode Island, teaching children woodworking and crafts. Mr. Young leaves his children: Janella Swartz and her husband, Joel, of Franklin; Bramwell Young and his wife, Elizabeth, of Wellesley ; Sheldon Young and his wife, Anne, of Waltham and Tanis Collard and her husband, Donald, of Narragansett, RI; a son in law: George Rudolph of Falmouth. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren whom will miss their Papa very much. He was predeceased in death by his daughter Sherryl Rudolph, who passed away September 17, 2011. Mr. Young was the brother of the late Dr. Crossman Young and Lyla Neid. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral immediately following visitation on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Jeffrey Thomas, officiating. Burial will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral.
