Gladys M. (Anderson) Shockro, 97, formerly of South Street, Plainville, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham where she resided for seven years. She was the wife of the late John J. Shockro, Sr. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on December 16, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Albert A. Anderson, Sr. and Ellen (Welch) Anderson. She resided in Plainville for 8 years prior to moving to Wrentham. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro. Mrs. Shockro served as a dedicated registered nurse on the obstetrics department at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for 40 plus years. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and treasured time spent with her beloved family. She leaves three children: John J. Shockro, Jr. and his wife, Diane E. (Woodward) Shockro, of North Attleboro; Cindy M. Smith of East Taunton and Karen S. Green and her husband, Joseph F. Green of Stratham, New Hampshire; six grandchildren: Laura A. Shockro, Heidi J. Green, Jason J. Green, Ryan P. Green, Christopher P. Payette and Katrina L. Smith; a sister: Ruth Espeut of Cumberland, Rhode Island and several extended family members and friends. She was the paternal grandmother of the late Justin J. Shockro who died on August 30, 2004. She was the sister of the late Albert Anderson, Jr., Claire Nicholson, Virginia Aguiar and John Anderson. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 8:30 - 9:30 in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro with the Rev. Riley Williams, officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for an afternoon of continued fellowship and reflection at a location to be announced. The family asks that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made in honor Mrs. Shockro's late grandson, Justin John Shockro.
