Gladys Margaret Cerrone

Gladys Margaret (Craig) Cerrone, 89, of Hoppin Hill Avenue, North Attleboro, died on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Armand J. Cerrone to whom she was married for sixty years and who died in 2000. Born in North Attleboro, Massachusetts on August 4, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Edward K. and Anna P. (Corbett) Craig. She was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and was a 1939 graduate of North Attleboro High School. Mrs. Cerrone was employed as an office manager for her sons dental practice, Dr. Craig A. Cerrone, DDS, MS, on North Main Street in Attleboro for many years. Previously, Mrs. Cerrone was employed as a waitress at the former Brook Manor Restaurant in North Attleboro for 17 years. As a religious woman, she was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in North Attleboro where she was currently the oldest member of the church. She enjoyed volunteering much time to her church and church community. A nurturing and caring woman, she dedicated much time to caring for the needs of her large extended family. Gardening and cooking were among her favorite pastimes. An ardent cribbage player, Mrs. Cerrone was a member of the Cribbage Club at the Attleboro Council on Aging and, along with her husband, was a 25-year plus member of the Sidesplitters Square Dancing Club. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Anglestone Chapter, North Attleboro. Mrs. Cerrone leaves five children: Carol A. Shea of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; Janice L. Christiansen of Lutry, Switzerland; Dr. Craig A. Cerrone, DDS, of North Attleboro; Bruce E. Cerrone of North Attleboro and Lt. Col. Armand A. Scott Cerrone, U.S.A.F. (Retired) of Alexandria, Virginia; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Charles Craig, George Craig, John Craig, Helen Bennetti and Ann Bassignani. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 3:00 7:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Childrens room available during visitation. Those in need of transportation to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis local transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Hoppin Hill Avenue, North Attleboro with the Rev. Peter A. Parent, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. Following cemetery services, family and friends will be invited to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and a luncheon to be held at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Cerrones name may be made to First United Methodist Church, 20 Hoppin Hill Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
