Gilbert "Gil" Wilfred Audette, 86, of Bristol, RI, formerly of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol, RI. He was the beloved husband of Jean H. (Rigby) Audette.
Born on June 14, 1932 in Central Falls, RI, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Anita Audette.
Gil proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, and later became the Quality Control Manager at Wells Instruments in Attleboro and for Improved Seamless Wire Company in Providence, RI, before retiring.
A resident of Bristol for the past twenty-two years, he previously lived in Rehoboth, MA. Gil was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Barrington, RI.
His years in Attleboro were busy ones, and he graciously volunteered as a coach for the South Attleboro White Hawks Football League and for Attleboro Youth Hockey. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. In the late 1990's his family relocated to Bristol, RI, where boating became his passion, and he and his family spent many hours on his beloved Chris-Craft boat, "The Sea Gil". His greater joy in life, though, was spending time with his cherished family.
In addition to his wife, Jean, he leaves his loving children: Lesley E. Garrigus of Barnstable, MA; Stuart E. Weeman of Riverside, RI; Shelley J. Desautels of Pascoag, RI; Steven G. Audette of New York City, NY; Scott M. Audette of Arvada, CO; Peter C. Audette of Bradenton, FL; and Tammy L. Niederman, of Thornton, CO. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters. Gilbert was the dear brother of Elaine DeWolfe of South Attleboro, MA, and the late Theresa Arsenault.
Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Gil by gathering for a Memorial Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.
