Gertrude Evelyn Hyland

Gertrude E. (Muzzy) Hyland, 96, of Park Street, Attleboro; formerly of North Avenue, Attleboro; passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the wife of the late James C. Hyland, Jr. to whom she was married on May 26, 1939 and who died on May 11, 1962. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on September 9, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Milton J. and Maude (Redfern) Muzzy. Raised and educated in the City of Attleboro, Mrs. Hyland was a 1935 graduate of Attleboro High School and later attended Burdette College. She was employed as an office assistant at Standard Plastics for 23 years prior to her retirement. She was a lifetime member of Murray Unitarian Universalist Church in Attleboro. Mrs. Hyland was a former member of the Chaminade Club, Attleboro Symphony Orchestra, Young People's Christian Union, Murray Mother's Club and QVs. She leaves two daughters: Nancy R. Storti of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Suzanne Salois of Sandwich; a son: Dean J. Hyland of Attleboro; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mildred Muzzy and Ruth Muzzy. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private graveside service was scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Hillside Cemetery, South Main Street, Attleboro with the Rev. Robert McKetchnie, Interim Pastor of Murray Unitarian Universalist Church, Attleboro, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Hyland's name may be made to the Activity Department at Life Care Center of Attleboro, 969 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
