Gerard R. Proulx, Sr., 72, of Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline C. (Esmeraldo) Proulx, to whom he was married on August 7, 1965 in St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro, MA, and who died on November 11, 2016.Born on December 7, 1945 in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Leopold and Aurore (Guerin) Proulx. A graduate of Attleboro High School, he worked for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Police as an Investigator, and for the Massachusetts State Police as a Trooper, until his retirement in 1992. A lifelong resident of Attleboro, he was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Attleboro where he took collections at the 7:00 a.m. Mass. Gerard enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, painting by numbers, and maintaining his home. He will be missed by the other members of the "Good Friends Coffee Club" gang at Dairy Carousel. More than anything, Gerard will be missed by his loving and much beloved family, with whom he valued spending time.He is survived by his cherished children: Gerard R. Proulx, Jr. and his wife, Joan P. Proulx; and James E. Proulx and his wife, Kricket A. Proulx, all of Attleboro, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Nicholas Proulx and Hannah R. Proulx, both of Attleboro. Gerard was the brother of Jeanne Fredette of Norton, MA; Pauline Weber and her husband, William Weber, of Attleboro, MA; and Laurette McAfee and her husband, John McAfee, of North Attleboro, MA, and was predeceased by his siblings, Paul L. Proulx, Ronald Proulx, and Anita Joyal. He leaves his late wife's sisters: Celina Coelho of Fall River, MA; Virginia Richmond and her husband, Gordon Richmond, of Norton, MA; Albina "Rita" Maynard and her husband, Douglas Maynard, of Attleboro, MA; and Patricia Phinney of Attleboro.
