Gerard Arthur Archambault

Gerard "Archie" Arthur Archambault, 90, of Steere Street, Attleboro, MA passed away at Sturdy Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. He was the cherished husband of Beverly Clair (Carlson) Archambault, to whom he was married on November 26, 1977. Born in West Warwick, RI on January 16, 1925, Archie was a son of Joseph Archambault and Rosebelle (Fontaine) Archambault. He was a graduate of West Warwick High School in RI and honorably served our country in the United States Navy as a Sonarman, Second Class in several stations and aboard several vessels, including the U.S.S. Ellyson. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, ETO Ribbon (3), and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (2). Archie then went to work for First National as a Truck Driver, retiring in 1978, and then began work as an Orderly at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA until retiring in 1988. Archie lived in Attleboro since 1960 and was a longtime active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Attleboro. He always remained a proud Veteran of the Navy throughout his life, and looked forward every year to attending the World War II reunions, enjoyed the simple pleasures of puttering in his home and basement, collecting cans, watching television and dining out with Beverly and with friends. He delighted in his family, especially treasuring time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Beverly, he is survived by his four loving children: Charles P. Archambault and his wife, Anne, of Pittsfield, MA; Joseph G. Archambault and Naomi Wilson of South Portland, ME; David A. Brassard and his wife, Donna, of Cape Elizabeth, ME; and Ricky J. Isabel and his wife, Donna, of Attleboro, MA; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Muriel Mitchell of Pasadena, CA, as well as several nieces and nephews, his extended family, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation with Veterans Honors on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a funeral on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 647 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro with the Rev. Sandra Demmler D'Amico, Pastor, officiating. Burial will full Military Honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro, MA.
