Gerald A. LaFontaine Jr., 84, of Wood River Junction, RI, formerly of North Attleboro and Plainville, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Westerly Hospital in Westerly, RI, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Emilie Rita (Ringuette) LaFontaine, who passed away on November 6, 2015.Born on January 11, 1934 in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Gerald A. LaFontaine Sr., and the late Flore (Levesque) LaFontaine. A graduate of Attleboro High School, Gerald worked for thirty years as an Electrician for Univis in South Attleboro, before retiring.A longtime member of St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro, he was a man of great faith and devotion. He enjoyed camping in his younger years, working on computers, and recently acquired a new love for the beaches of Westerly. Gerald eagerly looked forward each week to a decades-long tradition of having Sunday dinners with his grandchildren. More than anything in life, though, Gerald cherished simply spending time with his family.He was the loving father of the late Stephen M. LaFontaine and his wife, Robin (Harris) LaFontaine of North Attleboro, MA; Paul G. LaFontaine and his companion, Roberta Danley, of Edgewater, FL; Richard P. LaFontaine and his wife, Melody (Soderquist) LaFontaine, of Attleboro, MA; Philip G. LaFontaine and his wife, Kelly M. (Kelliher) LaFontaine, of Wood River Junction, RI, with whom he made his home; the late Mark P. LaFontaine; and Peter J. LaFontaine and his wife, Leigh A. (Everett) LaFontaine, of North Attleboro, MA. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Jessica, Michael, Kayla, Samantha, Amanda, Christa, Julia, and Vanessa; and leaves several treasured great-grandchildren. Gerald was the brother of the late Roger LaFontaine and his wife, Alyce LaFontaine; and the late Marcia Therriault. He leaves a very special person in his life and family friend, Peggy Gaudreau, of Rehoboth, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
