Gerald Albert "Gerry" Parenteau

Gerald Albert ("Gerry") Parenteau, 83, of West Bacon Street, Plainville, passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire Theresa (Deschenes) Parenteau. Born in Attleboro on April 11, 1930, he was a son of the late Albert and Rita (Poirier) Parenteau. Gerald was a graduate of North Attleboro High School and was employed for 45 years as a Credit Manager at Attleboro Plainville Coal Company before retiring. He lived most of his adult life in Plainville. He was a past member of Sacred Heart Parish in North Attleboro. An avid golfer, Gerald was a member of the Foxborough Country Club which held a special place in his life and where he was lovingly known to his friends as the "Commissioner". He was also a member of the Attleboro Area Golf Association (AAGA) Hall of Fame. Gerald also had a special place in his life for Dunkin Donuts. In addition to his cherished late wife and parents, Gerald was the loving and beloved father of daughters, Patricia A. Souza and her husband Robert E. Souza of Mansfield, and Constance A. Dixon and her husband Kenneth S. Dixon of Mansfield, and of his late son, Stephen G. Parenteau; five cherished grandchildren, Matthew Souza, Michael Souza, Lindsay Dixon, Brett Dixon, and Allison Dixon; and five loving great-grandchildren. He was the brother of George Parenteau of Plainville, and the late Rena Easterbrooks and the late Arthur Parenteau, as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room is available during visitation. Those in need of transportation to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis local transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend graveside services in St. Mary's Cemetery on Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 9:30 AM.
