Gerald Lawrence Brillon, Sr., 93, of South Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Gertrude Julia (Duclos) Brillon, the love of his life to whom he was married on May 14, 1945, who blessed him with ten wonderful children, twenty-three grandchildren, and thirty-five great-grandchildren, and who died on February 17, 2017.Born on January 5, 1924 in North Providence, RI, he was the son of the late George H. Brillon and the late Lea E. (Cote) Brillon Plante. A lifelong resident of South Attleboro, Gerald was employed for many years as a Foreman for both Paris Construction and Cumberland Engineering Company before retiring in 1986, having worked on such well known area projects as Jolly Cholly's Funland and the Teacher's Pet Restaurant. He proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard. Gerald was a man of faith and devotion whose life was always centered around his treasured family. He was a lifelong member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish in South Attleboro and was one of the church's founding members and a proud recipient of the Marion Medal award. He was a member of The Holy Name Society, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, and Knights of Columbus. Gerald actively participated in many civic organizations including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, Attleboro Association for Retarded Citizens, and For Pete's Sake Preschool Board. Gerald was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 56 and The American Legion Post 312. He was a long-standing member of The Attleboro Auxiliary Police, and served many years as an Attleboro Police Commissioner. Brillon and his wife, Mary-Jayne (Dufort) Brillon, of Attleboro, MA; Julie A. (Brillon) Forbes and her late husband, Ronald W. Forbes, of South Attleboro, MA; Russell H. Brillon and his wife, Kimberly J. (Waugh) Brillon, of Westminster, MA; Theresa L. (Brillon) Cook and her husband, Robert W. Cook, of South Attleboro, MA; Bernadette M. (Brillon) Cook and her husband, Timothy D. Cook, Sr., of South Attleboro, MA; Sgt. Arthur J. Brillon and his wife, Mary Dee E. (Parker) Brillon, of South Attleboro, MA; and Christopher P. Brillon of South Attleboro, MA. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Jeanne Cardin of North Providence, RI; Bernice Mailloux of Cumberland, RI; and Theresa Archambault of Attleboro, MA. Gerald was predeceased by his siblings Doris Janvier, Harvey Brillon, Bertha Duclos, George Brillon, Roger Brillon, Richard Brillon, Norman Brillon, Lorraine Brousseau, and Raymond Brillon.
