Georgina D'Ascencao Pereira

Georgina D'Ascencao (Pereira) Pereira, 85, formerly of Thacher Street, Attleboro, died on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro where she had been a resident for the past three years. She was the beloved wife of the late Joao J. Pereira, Jr. who died on April 3, 2001 and to whom she was married for more than 50 years. Born in St. Michael, the Azores, Portugal on August 13, 1929, a daughter of the late Joao L. Pereira, Sr. and Maria C. (Sousa) Pereira, she resided in Attleboro for many years after immigrating to the United States prior to moving to North Attleboro three years ago. Mrs. Pereira was employed as an inspector for Automatic Machine Company in Attleboro for 25 years prior to her retirement. She was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, now St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro. Mrs. Pereira cherished the time spent with her beloved family creating lifelong memories to hold dear to their hearts. She enjoyed sewing, taking care of and cleaning her home and will fondly be remembered as forever having a vacuum and can of pledge in her hands. She leaves a son: Aires "Eddie" M. Pereira and his wife, Debbie (Reynolds) Pereira, of Attleboro; two daughters: Paula M. Moran and her husband, Bud R. Moran, of Seekonk and Susan M. Woodworth and her husband, Jay D. Woodworth, of Fairfield, CT; five grandchildren: Ryan A. Pereira; Derek P. Moran; Ashley S. Woodworth; Avery J. Woodworth; Jason J. Fisher and Joshua R. Fisher; four great grandchildren: Kayla, Alexis, Emily and Grace; two sisters: Maria L. Pavao and Eduarda E. Paolo both of Attleboro; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Joao L. Pereira, Jr. and Manuel Pereira. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Flowers are accepted. Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro. An invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at Morin's Restaurant in Attleboro following graveside services.
