George Peter Sweetland, Jr., 65, of North Attleboro, MA passed away on February 6, 2025, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA after having been stricken ill three weeks prior.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on January 13, 1960, he was a son of the late George P. Sweetland, Sr. and the late Joan Louise (Marshall) Sweetland. He was raised and educated in North Attleboro where he was a 1979 graduate of North Attleboro High School. He then attended New England Institute of Technoloy and earned an associate's degree in electrical technology.
He worked for Motorola for many years and most recently was employed as an electronic technician for PT Associates.
George was a communicant of Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark and as an ardent car enthusiast and was a member of the Northeast Hemi Owners Association and numerous car organizations. He also enjoyed travelling with family and friends having enjoyed trips to Florida, Aruba and taking cruises.
He leaves a sister: Linda Lee Elliott and her husband, Rick Elliott, of Attleboro, MA and Michael D. Sweetland and his wife, Carolyn A. (Dooley) Sweetland of Brunswick, Maine; two nieces: Mary M. Elliott of Attleboro and Lisa Lee Ellis of Franklin, TN and many extended family members and fellow car enthusiasts.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend Visitation on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel".
Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston, Rhode Island.
Following graveside services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments.
