George Francis Clesas, Sr., 68, of Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away at his home on Friday, December 30, 2016 with his beloved wife and family by his side. Born on May 11, 1948 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late James Clesas and the late Mary (Shippee) Clesas.George worked for many years as a self-employed Contractor before retiring. Prior to living in Attleboro, George resided in Providence, RI. He proudly and honorably served our country as a member of the United States Army, and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Vietnam Service Medal. George was an engaging man who loved spending time with his family and had enjoyed working on jobsites with his children. He was actively involved in bringing the IATSE Stage Hands Union to Rhode Island, and in the entertainment business at the Providence Civic Center. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, had been a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, and a coach while his children were younger. George loved music, particularly Paul Simon and Neil Diamond, and staying abreast of the news and current events.In addition to his wife, Dorothy G. (Pavao) Clesas, he is survived by his children: George Francis Clesas, Jr., of Providence, RI; and Michael J. Clesas and his wife, Amy R. (Albanese) Clesas, of Providence, RI. He was the step-father of Ericka L. Tucker and her husband Drew Tompkins, of Milwaukee, WI; Joshua I. Lavoie of Pawtucket, RI; Shawn M. Lavoie and his wife, AnnJo M. Doerr of WI; Matthew G. Lavoie and his wife, Laura Briscoe, of Bronx, NY; and Isaac J. Lavoie and his wife, Rita R. (Shaffer) Lavoie, of Cranston, RI. He was the grandfather of Julian A. Lavoie, Persephone G. Lavoie, and Melita S. L. Lavoie. George was the brother of James Clesas and his wife, Ann, of Clearwater, FL; Mary Antonucci and her late husband, Anthony, of Cranston, RI; Carol Parenteau of Johnston, RI; and William Clesas and his wife, Barbara, of Warwick, RI. He leaves his aunts: Alice Shippee and her late husband, Earl, of Coventry, RI; and Jacqueline Reshel and her late husband, Earl, of Cranston, RI; as well as many nieces, nephews, his in-laws, and many dear friends.
