Gary Austin Young

Gary Austin Young, 74, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Greene) Young.Born on January 10, 1943 in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Griffith) Young.A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Gary graduated from Attleboro High School and attended Boston University. He proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army. Gary worked for forty years in field of material distribution for Metals & Controls, Texas Instruments and Engineered Material Solutions in Attleboro, and attended St. Vincent de Paul Parish.Gary loved being with his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors in New Hampshire hunting & fishing; racing his Shelby GT350, Railfanning (in Ayer, Mass) with his W.F.P.T. (Worcester Foreign Power Team) "crew" and watching his beloved Patriots with his dog "Buddy" at his side.In addition to his wife, Nancy, he leaves his loving children: Kimberly A. Read of Rehoboth, MA; and Heidi I. Applebaum and husband Eric Applebaum, of Michigan and Florida. Gary was the adoring grandfather of Jeff Read and his wife, Kendra Read; Blake Read; and Ashley Applebaum; and the proud great-grandfather of Kaelyn Read. He was the brother of Greg Young.
