Gary W. Carlson, 69 Retired Polaroid Employee Gary Wight Carlson, 69, of Greenwood Drive, North Attleboro, died on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a period of declining health. He was the loving companion of Jeannette D. (Lapierre) Tanguay with whom he shared 30 years. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 11, 1942, he was a son of the late Nils W. and Ada (Wight) Carlson. Raised and educated in Boston, Mr. Carlson later attended trade school. Mr. Carlson resided in North Attleboro for the past 30 years having moved to the community from Mansfield where he had resided for 20 years. He was employed as a mechanic for the Polaroid Corporation for many years prior to his retirement in 1997. His favorite pastimes included camping and fishing. In addition to his longtime companion, Mr. Carlson is survived by four children: Jeffrey S. Carlson of Attleboro; Todd G. Carlson and his wife, Janine Carlson, of Warwick, Rhode Island; Patricia A. Carlson and her companion, Anthony F. Pellegrini, Sr. of Mansfield and Colleen M. Carlson of Mansfield; four grandchildren: Sara E. Carlson and Alexandra C. Carlson both in Pennsylvania and Julia G. Pellegrini and Anthony F. Pellegrini, Jr. both of Mansfield; two brothers: Roy Carlson of Foxboro and Donald Carlson of Falmouth and several extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Robert Carlson. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Funeral services and burial will be private.
