Gabe Rivera

January 11, 2006 — November 18, 2020

Gabe Rivera, 14, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. Gabe was the cherished child of Alonso Rivera Jr. and Donna Marie (Quinn) Rivera.
Born on January 11, 2006 in Brockton, MA, he was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro, attended Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - Sacred Heart, and was attending his Freshman year at North Attleboro High School.
Gabe was truly a kind soul with a heart of gold whose smile and compassion will forever be remembered. Bright, intuitive, and intelligent, he had a genuinely creative spirit. He was a talented artist who especially enjoyed drawing and sketching. Gabe could often be found with his skateboard in hand or puttering and helping around the yard at home.
He was a passionate advocate for the underdog and for kids struggling with gender identity issues. Even at a young age, he sought to lend a hand to others, having been presented with the "Austin Rivera Award" in fifth grade. The award is given in honor of an adored student who passed away while attending Amvet School. Gabe truly embodied the criteria of taking a sincerely keen interest in schoolmates with special needs, having chosen to spend his free time at recess and in class playing and showing compassion for the needs of others.  The award reflected an incredibly special child in Gabe: an innately empathetic individual able to put the needs of others before his own and able to recognize the difference a friend can make.
In addition to his loving parents, Gabe leaves his beloved siblings: Jovany Rivera and Natalia Rivera, both of North Attleboro. He was the paternal grandson of Marina Rivera of Florida and the late Alonso Rivera Sr.; and the maternal grandson of the late Frederick and Mary (Martin) Quinn.  He leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, his extended family, and many good friends.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including social distancing and the mandatory use of facemasks, relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
