Fredric "Fred" H.J. Golembewski

Fredric "Fred" H.J. Golembewski, 73, of North Attleboro, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Claire D. (Dumont) Golembewski, to whom he was married on December 28, 1963.Born on March 3, 1942 in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Marion Golembewski and the late Mary (Strojny) Golembewski.Fred was employed as a Teacher for more than thirty-eight years by the City of Attleboro School Department. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River, Class of 1959, he received his Bachelor's Degree from UMass Dartmouth and his Master's Degree 30 from Bridgewater State College. He lived in North Attleboro for the past forty-five years, having previously resided in Attleboro, MA and Cumberland, RI. Fred was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro, which played an important part in his life. He was actively involved in his community, where he was a member of the Board of the North Attleboro Council on Aging, and a trustee and docent of the North Attleborough Historical Society. He generously donated his time to the North Attleboro Public Library's Book Fair for the benefit of the Richard Memorial Library, as well as to the Hockomock YMCA and Lenore's Pantry in North Attleboro. He never stopped learning, taking classes throughout his life. He took much pleasure in spending time with family and friends, as well as feeding and watching birds on his property. Fred loved New Hampshire, especially cruises on Lake Winnipesaukee aboard the MS Mt. Washington. In addition to his wife, Claire, he is survived by his two children: Fredric "Ric" Marc Golembewski of North Attleboro, MA, and Melissa (Golembewski) Wilson and her husband, Kip B. Wilson, of Wellesley, MA. He was the brother of Ann "Peachy" (Golembewski) Kagdis and her late husband, Harry, of FL; Stanley Golembewski and his wife, Annette, of Somerset, MA; Edward Golembewski and his wife, Karen; and Walter Golembewski and his wife, Joan, of Somerset, MA. He leaves one grandchild: Kai Fredric Wilson of Wellesley, MA; three grand-dogs; dozens of in-laws, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.Fred will always be remembered as a giving person who enjoyed putting smiles on people's faces.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Immediately following visitation, a funeral cortege will proceed to Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro where relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. David A.
