Francis "Frank" Perry, 87, of Plainville, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Geraldine (Salley) Perry, to whom he was married for 54 years. They were married on June 26, 1948. Born in Dighton, MA on December 18, 1926, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Philomena (Rogers) Perry. Mr. Perry graduated from Dighton High School, after which he enlisted in the United States Navy SeeBees during World War II and served in the Pacific theatre of war. He reached the rank of Petty Officer Carpenter's Mate 3rd Class until his honorable discharge in 1946. He then attended the Rhode Island School of Design under the G.I. Bill. Mr. Perry retired in 1992 from Engelhard Corporation after 42 years of service as a mechanical maintenance supervisor. Frank was a member of the Engelhard softball, volleyball and bowling teams. He was a committee member of Boy Scout Troop #132 of Plainville, serving as treasurer for 13 of his 15 years with them. Mr. Perry was a member of the American Legion #217 in Plainville where he served as Service Officer, Jr. Vice Commander, Sr. Vice Commander and Commander. He was also a member of the Post #217 Honor Guard. Mr. Perry enjoyed bike riding, camping and traveling with his family. Francis is survived by his children: Carol E. Samson of Orange, CA; Stephen J. Perry of North Attleboro; David K. Perry of Wrentham; Janice R. Monfils of North Attleboro; Allen S. Perry of Plainville; and ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was the brother of the late Virginia (Perry) Levesque of Tiverton, RI; Joseph Perry and Richard Perry of Dighton. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation with veteran's honors on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
