Frances Bernadette (Kelly) Gunning
January 26, 1936 – July 19, 2025
It is with deep love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frances Bernadette Gunning, who departed this life surrounded by family on July 19, 2025, at the Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI.
Born in Mullingar, Ireland, Frances was the beloved daughter of the late Michael and Nora Kelly (née O’Hara) of Dublin.
Frances married Patrick Gunning on June 10, 1958, and together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family.
She is survived by her daughter: Lorna Gunning Brown and her husband, George Brown, of Denver, CO; son: Lou Gunning of Coventry, RI; daughter: Yvonne Gunning of Attleboro, MA;
her grandchildren: Kelly Anne Brown, Andrew Stephen Gunning (wife Anna Dalton), and Jared Arthur Gunning (wife Courtney Russo) and brother: Michael Kelly and wife, Mary Kelly, of Dublin, Ireland.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Kevin Kelly, Angela Walsh, Maude Moore, Mona Derwin, and Patrick Kelly and is also survived and cherished by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Frances worked diligently as an office manager for several companies and later served as Administrative Director for the Healing and Restoration Ministry of Fr. Edward McDonough. In retirement, she continued to share her compassion by volunteering with Fr. Andre Patenaude’s Make It Known Ministry.
She was a woman of great faith, who loved to travel both within the U.S. and internationally. Frances was a four-time cancer survivor who exemplified strength, grace, and devotion throughout her life.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark, 110 Stanley Street, North Attleboro, MA.
There will be no public funeral cortege from the funeral home prior to the commencement of the Funeral Mass.
Burial will be private.
Following church services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
