Frances Bruno (Silvestro) 71, of Attleboro, MA., left her pain behind and found peace on Monday, March 11, 2024 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.
Frances is survived by her devoted and overly patient husband, John Bruno, who did his best to ensure she felt loved during their near 37 years of marriage.
In addition, she is survived by a brother who will remain unnamed by her request; daughters, Alicia Grande and fiancé DeVaughn Drayton, Jillian Raines (Grande); son, Travis Bruno; grandchildren, Isaiah Raines, Amari Njie, Joniah Drayton; pet, Princess, her 4lb chihuahua who may have been the most favorite of all.
She is preceded in death by parents, Carmelo and Josephine Silvestro, who she looked forward to reuniting with once again.
Frances was born on August 8, 1952 in Boston, MA. and graduated from Somerville High in 1970. Growing up in Somerville, she developed many lifelong friends she remained close to and derived joy from throughout the years.
Sometime during the mid nineteen eighties, John and Frances' paths would intermittently cross through their individual friend circles. But it wasn't until one fateful night at Palace nightclub in Saugus, MA where their relationship truly blossomed. John was enjoying himself on the dancefloor when he suddenly felt a kick in the back of his leg. He turned to see Frances standing there with a grin glaring back at him, which was her way of demanding his attention. From that point forward, he could tell she was one of a kind, which eventually led to them tying the knot on June 20, 1987.
A short while later, she would complete her family. Throughout the years they would enjoy one another, support one another, and routinely get on one another's nerves. Frances tremendously loved her family, and knew no matter what, they felt the same for her. "There's nothing like a baby" she would often say as she was flooded with memories from time spent raising her own three kids and grandkids.
Frances was unique in that she loved people but also possessed an unwavering, strong attitude. Throughout her life this brought success in a variety of different roles; a couple she would often reminisce about were recruiting bingo goers for bus trips to Foxwood's, and various sales gigs including furniture, automotive, and even industrial equipment at one point. She would laugh while recalling a story in which she sat in the front seat of a vehicle with a customer and persuaded him to pretend to drive it. Her only choice was to pretend, because the car didn't run, yet she didn't let that stop her and somehow still managed to close the sale. As she would always say, "People buy from people they like.", and Fran's magnetic personality left you no choice but to like her.
She found enjoyment through many things. Among those things were hosting holiday dinners, shopping for new clothes, cracking open a freshly boiled crab, getting her hair or nails done, watching her afternoon soap opera's, a hot cup of coffee, socializing with old and new friends, and lastly, making regular donations to the slot machines in Twin River and Plainridge Park casino's.
She also was not shy about letting you know when she despised something, such as all of her childrens tattoo's, or when a contestant would give the incorrect answer on The Price is Right. Good or bad, there was never any question surrounding how she felt.
A sincere and heartfelt thanks go out to the wonderful Paula McBrine and Asma Latif, who provided more than just the best care for Frances, but who also provided their friendship. She lived life on her own terms, often times in direct conflict with the advice from her doctors, yet they remained attentive to Frances and understood she just wanted the opportunity to mingle with friends, have a few laughs, and forget about her worries, if only for a few hours.
