Florence Goodman Weisfeld. MSW, known to family and friends as Faigy, died in Providence, Rhode Island after a long illness. She was born and spent most of her life in her beloved New York City, where she graduated at age 20 from Hunter College. After serving in the United States Navy in San Francisco during World War II, she attended social work graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she met her late cherished husband, Frank, also from New York City. Faigy enjoyed a long, rewarding and diverse career in social work. She was a tireless worker for the causes of peace and justice; she loved life, travel, animals of every type, etymology, Jewish history, and all things Yiddish. She had friends of many ages and from many countries. Faigy is survived by her three children: Laurie, Jannie and Rick; her granddaughters Sarah, and her husband Kyle, and Aracely; her grandsons Forrest, Matthias, Lukas and Griffin; her son-in-law Fritz and daughter-in-law Becky; her sister-in-law Evelyn; nieces Judy and Holly; nephews Larry and Horatio; three great-grandchildren; and dear friends Melba, Syd, Rosalie and Janet. Faigy was the daughter of the late Leah Treashansky and Laeb Goodman, and the sister of the late Dinah Goodman Lukin. Please do good deeds in memory and honor of Faigy.
