Florence Mae "Skip" (Caldwell) O'Brien, 85, of Attleboro, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 19, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Francis O'Brien.Born on July 24, 1930 in North Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. Caldwell and Florence Mae (Dorothy) Caldwell.Skip was a graduate of North Attleborough High School, Class of 1948. She was a past member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro and St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro, MA. She was an active volunteer years ago at Willett School and St. John the Evangelist School in Attleboro. She was known as the Clam Cake Lady for over thirty years at the annual St. Mark's Church fair.The most important and valued role in Skip's life was that of "Domestic Engineer" for her beloved family.She was a woman of many diverse interests: She was active in the VFW Women's Bugle and Drum Corps and the Girl Scouts of America. She spent many summers as Assistant Director of Camp Shady Pines in North Attleboro, and enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, and hooking rugs. Skip drove race car #56 at the Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, MA. She loved animals of every kind. Most especially, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.She was the mother of Kathleen T. O'Brien-Browning of North Attleboro, MA; Karen A. O'Brien-Richardson and her husband, Charles H. Richardson, Jr. of North Attleboro, MA; Stephanie F. O'Brien of MD; Heidi A. O'Brien-Zurblis and her husband, Peter E. Zurblis, of Mansfield, MA; and Maureen E. O'Brien-Adams and her husband, Mark Adams, of Germany. She was the sister of George Caldwell and the late Harry Caldwell of North Attleboro, MA and the sister-in-law of Dorothy Allen of Attleboro, MA. Skip leaves thirteen adoring grandchildren: Marcie, Brianna, Aaron and Morgan Zurblis; Jason Pendleton; Kelly (Browning) Maldonado; Conor, Tierney, Tristan, and Keighan Richardson; Brennan, Fiona, and Declan Adams; one treasured great-grandson, Jesse Dyl; as well as many nieces and nephews.Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
