Florence A. (Duffany) Carmichael Teixeira, 97, of Amvets Avenue, Falmouth; formerly of Thacher Street, Attleboro; died on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the JML Care Center in Falmouth. She was the wife of the late Frank Teixeira and the late Robert W. Carmichael, Sr. Born in Bourne, Massachusetts on November 17, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Mary (Tibbets) Duffany. She was a graduate of Norton High School. Mrs. Teixeira had resided in Norton, Falmouth and Attleboro. She returned to reside in Falmouth with her daughter and son-in-law almost four years ago. A woman of strong religious convictions, she maintained a strong faith and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella at the former Holy Ghost Church, now St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Attleboro. She was devoted to St. Anthony and St. Therese. She had been employed by L. G. Balfour Company, Texas Instruments, Jackson Brothers Nursery and was a licensed real estate agent prior to her retirement. She was a strong, independent woman devoted to raising her children following the death of her first husband, Robert W. Carmichael, Sr., at a young age. At the age of 62 she married Frank Teixeira and quickly adopted his family as her own. A talented poet, writer and song creator, Mrs. Teixeira was a member of the Knights of the Roundtable and the Writer's Guild. She left her legacy for her cherished family in a self-titled composite of her musical creations entitled "A Legacy in Song". She was also a member of the AARP. She leaves three children: Robert W. Carmichael, Jr. and his wife, Margaret B. (Nolin) Carmichael, of Attleboro; Kathleen E. Bourgoin and her husband, Lee E. Bourgoin, of Falmouth and Janice M. Russell and her husband, James E. Russell, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; her stepchildren: Frank Teixeira III in Florida; James Teixeira and his wife, Donna Teixeira, in Arizona and Virginia Wright and her husband, Howard Wright, of Norton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister: Dorothy Betts of Rochester, New Hampshire; her late stepson's wife: Beatrice Teixeira of Attleboro and numerous nieces, nephews and many extended family members and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Bruce H. Carmichael and David L. Carmichael. She was the stepmother of the late David Teixeira and Gilbert Teixeira. Mrs. Teixeira was the sister of the late Albina Wigglesworth, Helen Carmichael, Wilfred Duffany, Lawrence Duffany, Charles Duffany and Vincent Duffany. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 8:45 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 133 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. Her gift of music will be celebrated as part of the Funeral Mass. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro where she will be laid to rest with Mr. Carmichael. Children's room is available during the visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the St. John the Evangelist Hospitality Center located adjacent to the church.
