Ferdinand "Fred" Laurent Fecteau, 87, of Grant Street, North Attleboro, died peacefully at his residence on Friday, December 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Stack) Fecteau who died on August 8, 1999. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on August 4, 1927, he was a son of the late Raoul Fecteau and Christiana (LaFortune) Fecteau. He was raised and educated in Pawtucket, Rhode Island where he was a graduate of Our Lady of Consolation High School. He studied and graduated from the former Bryant College. He proudly served with the United States Navy during the World War II era aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Mr. Fecteau was the President of Hanscom Federal Credit Union in Bedford at the time of his retirement at the age of 65. He had a long and distinguished career with the credit union that spanned almost 60 years. The earlier years serving as the President and the last 20 years as a member of the Board of Directors. In honor of his devotion to the credit union, in 2013 a training room was dedicated in his name as a reflection to his dedicated service. Mr. Fecteau resided in North Attleboro since 1957 having moved to the community from his native, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro. In earlier years he was an ardent golfer and had been qualified with the Professional Golfer's Association. Favorite pastimes included time spent at the family beach house in the Buttonwood section of Warwick, Rhode Island, performing work and projects around his homes, puzzles of all kinds including crossword and playing chess and cribbage. He treasured the time spent with his beloved canine companion, "Bradley", a 15 year old Labrador. He will be lovingly remembered as a man with the "patience of a Saint" with everyone and everything. He leaves five children: Laura J. Lanci and her fiancé, Thomas R. Grant, of North Attleboro; Donna M. Sullivan and her husband, Sean M. Sullivan, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; Paula L. Small and her husband, Michael J. Small, of Laurel, Delaware; Tina M. Schadone and her husband, Gregory J. Schadone, of Smithfield, Rhode Island and Larry S. Fecteau of North Attleboro and his companion, Jennifer Anderson, of West Warwick, Rhode Island; 8 grandchildren: Tammie, Rachel, Kara, Kirby, Michael, Hannah, Danielle and Matthew: two brothers: Raymond Fecteau and his wife, Marilyn, of Rockville, Connecticut and Robert Fecteau of Cumberland, Rhode Island; a sister-in-law: Alice Fecteau, wife of his late brother - Jean Paul Fecteau, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; extended family members; several members of his late wife's family and many dear friends. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
