Ferdinand "Ferdie" Anthony Pimental

Ferdinand "Ferdie" Anthony Pimental, 85, of Pearl Street, Plainville, died on March 10, 2015 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. He was the husband of Rita G. (Robitaille) Pimental to whom he was married on June 11, 1955. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on June 13, 1929, he was one of 15 children born to the late Fulgencio Pimental, Sr. and Alice (Sousa) Pimental, immigrants to the United States from their native Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Mr. Pimental was raised and educated in Attleboro where he resided until moving to Plainville in 1956. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War era having served from April 30, 1951 until his honorable discharge on April 22, 1953 having achieved the rank of Private First Class. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Pimental was employed by Texas Instruments in Attleboro from 1955 until his retirement as a maintenance supervisor in 1989 at the age of 59. He had also been employed part-time for five years in the shipping department of Dale Medical Products, Inc. He was a communicant of the former St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church and the former Holy Ghost Church both in Attleboro. H was also a member of the Holy Ghost Church Soccer Team. He had a love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar, mandolin and banjo. In his earlier years he was a member of the band, "The Jets". Mr. Pimental greatest pride was that of being a family man to each generation of his family. He cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. His grandchildren recall with fondness him teaching them to play soccer and sharing his lifelong love of music. He was proud to have helped build his son, David's residence. As an avid fisherman, he enjoyed times spent fishing on Cape Cod. He was a member of the Plainville Beagle Club. In addition to his wife, he leaves five children: Steven G. Pimental and his wife, Kim Pimental, of Hooksett, New Hampshire; Cynthia A. Parker and her husband, Glen J. Parker, of Templeton, California; David A. Pimental and his wife, Catherine M. (Loughlin) Pimental of Norfolk; Paul M. Pimental and his spouse, Steven Pomainville, of Deerfield, New Hampshire and Kenneth F. Pimental and his spouse, Luciano Virgilio, of Oakland, California; four grandchildren: Brianna Wilson, Marissa Wilson, Kevin A. Pimental and Ian C. Pimental; his siblings: George Pimental of Johnson City, Tennessee; Alice Gonsalves of Attleboro; Ethel Simmons of North Attleboro; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late James Rita, Edmond Rita, Anthony Rita, Alfred Pimental, Joseph Rita, Lucindo Pimental, Olive Fontaine, Mary Raposa, Adeline Hanly, John Pimental, Fulgencio Pimental, Jr. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 12:00 - 1:45 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Private burial with military honors will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Hope Hospice at the McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Road, Sandwich, MA 02537 in honor of the wonderful, attentive care provided Mr. Pimental.
