Eugene Arthur Courtney

Eugene Arthur Courtney, 78, of Elm Terrace, North Attleboro, died on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Doris A. (Helliwell) Courtney. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on July 2, 1934, Mr. Courtney was the son of the late Eugene and Florence (Allie) Courtois. He was a resident of North Attleboro since 1998 and previously resided in Attleboro. He formerly attended Grace Episcopal Church, North Attleboro. Mr. Courtney was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a custodian at King Philip High School until his retirement and was formerly employed as a cook in area restaurants. He was a member of the American Legion, Plainville and of the Rod & Gun Club, Franklin. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children: Linda Corriea of Raynham; Diane Butler of Raynham; Patricia Tourinho of Port Charlotte, Florida; Michael Courtney of Burrillville, Rhode Island; Cheryl Lopes of Attleboro; Eugene F. Courtney of Attleboro and Kathy Courtney of Tyngsboro; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; sister: Claire Grambo in Wisconsin; two brothers: Edward L. Courtois of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Louis N. Courtois and his family friend and caregiver Kelly Henry of Attleboro and several extended family members. He was the father of the late David Courtney. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private outdoor chapel service with military honors will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne. Inurnment will immediately follow.
