Ethel G. (Schilling) Mayer, 95, of Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Golden Living Center - George Street in Attleboro, MA. She was the wife of the late Raymond Mayer who died on December 25, 1977. Born on November 7, 1919 in Lancaster, NY, she was the daughter of George C. Schilling and Lucy Ida (Walter) Schilling. Mrs. Mayer was a graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1937, and the Bryant & Stratton Business College. She lived in Attleboro for more than forty years, having previously resided in North Reading, MA. Prior to retiring in 1995, Mrs. Mayer enjoyed employment as an Executive Secretary at the L.G. Balfour Company in Attleboro and, prior to that, as a Secretary at the North Reading High School in North Reading, MA. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro and worked in the church office for many years. Mrs. Mayer always enjoyed reading and was an avid reader. She is survived by her cherished son, Raymond Mayer of Canton, MI, as well as two beloved grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her extended family. Mrs. Mayer was the sister of the late Kenneth Walter and Dorothy (Schilling) Layer. Visitation has respectfully been omitted. Funeral services will be privately held, as will burial alongside her beloved late husband in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY.
