Esther Adele Zmudsky

Esther Adele (Saunders) Zmudsky, 98, of Attleboro, MA and Popponesset Beach, Mashpee, MA, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Born on August 11, 1918 in Boston, MA, Esther was the daughter of the late Evelyn (O'Brien) Saunders Lampro and the late Harry Saunders, and step-daughter of the late George Lampro. Esther graduated from Salem State Teachers' College in 1939 and taught on Martha's Vineyard, in Hyannis and in Attleboro. During World War II, Esther was an Executive Secretary at The Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, MA. She actively supported her husband in his psychological consulting business and his school guidance work. She retired from the Lyons Advertising Agency in 1982. Esther loved spending time at the Cape with her family and grandchildren. Her family was the most important thing in the world to her, and she always cherished the memory of her husband, Jim, whom she adored. Esther was an avid reader, devouring all the book-club books Evey sent to her from Montana, playing bridge, and discussing politics. She was determined to cast her vote last week and did! Esther cared deeply about the world, other people, and her friends. She was diligent in sending cards for holidays to people she loved. She was generous and always focused on giving back to people. She believed strongly in the value of education. She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn M. LaMont (Thomas Singer) of Billings, MT; Ann J. Zmudsky (James April) of Attleboro, MA; her grandchildren: Cpt. Aaron J. LaMont of Portland, OR, and Tyler W. LaMont (Christina Grice) of New York City, NY and Albuquerque, NM; and by several nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Zmudsky; her siblings: Harriet Saunders, Rose Saunders, Albert Saunders, and James Lampro; and by her infant daughter, Carol Anne. Visitation has respectfully been omitted.
