Esther L. (Engberg) Hoyle, 94, of South Main Street, Attleboro, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro where she had been a resident for the past two weeks. She was the wife of the late Warren S. Hoyle who died in 1994 and whom she proudly met at a Rainbow Girls Assembly in Norwood in 1939. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 21, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John and Lydia (Korpola) Engberg. She was raised and educated in Norwood and had been an Attleboro resident since 1954. She was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family. Mrs. Hoyle was a member of the Hope Chapter #41 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Attleboro where she served as the secretary for many years and as Past Matron. As a local historian and author, Mrs. Hoyle wrote On This Corner in Hebronville. She was a member of the Finnish-American Organization and spoke fluent Finnish. As an ardent traveler, she particularly enjoyed visits to Finland. Mrs. Hoyle was an avid baker. She was a member of the former Hebronville United Methodist Church, Attleboro where she served as a member of the church choir. Mrs. Hoyle leaves her children: John L. Hoyle and his wife, Olive (Webber) Hoyle, of Plainville; David P. Hoyle and his wife, Lori (Bussiere) Hoyle, of Wrentham; Robert B. Hoyle of Murphy, North Carolina and Carol L. (Hoyle) Cherry of Attleboro; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; extended family members and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Richard Warren Hoyle who died on April 9, 2011. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private graveside funeral service will be held for the immediate family at Hillside Cemetery, Attleboro. Burial will follow.
