Ernesto Medeiros Barbosa

Ernesto Medeiros Barbosa, 90, of Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Maria C. (Moniz) Barbosa. Born on April 5, 1927 in Saint Michael, the Azores, he was the son of the late Joan M. and Evangelina (Duart) Barbosa.Raised in the Azores, Portugal, he came to the United States in 1974, where he worked for many years as a Laborer for Englehard Industries in Plainville, MA, before retiring. Ernesto was a man of great faith and integrity. His religion played an important role in his life, and he attended St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Attleboro. He enjoyed woodcarving and carpentry who loved putting things together and working with wood. He enjoyed basket weaving and proudly caring for his home, his yard, and tending to his garden with ten "green" fingers, not merely a green thumb. More than anything, Ernesto treasured spending time with his family and the companionship of his faithful dog, "Snoopy".In addition to his wife, he is survived by his cherished children: Albertina, Nattie, Natalia, Laura, Adelaide, Jeorge, twin daughters Lucia and Maria Aleece, and Marina. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren, and leaves his extended family and many dear friends.Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Ernesto by gathering for a Visitation on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, North Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro, MA.Burial services will immediately follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.Children's room is available during visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized.In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Ernesto to Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro, MA 02703 would be appreciated.For additional information or to send the family a written expression of sympathy, please visit an online guest book at www.dyer-lakefuneralhome.com .
