Ernestine J. Speelman

Ernestine J. (Scheurkogel) Speelman, 76, of Liberty Drive, South Attleboro, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was the wife of the late M. Rudy Speelman to whom she was married on June 25, 1958 and who died on March 14, 2010. Born in Bandung, Indonesia on March 19, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Maurits and Ernestine W. (de Jager) Scheurkogel. She resided in South Attleboro for the past 10 years having moved to the community from Foxboro where she was a 35 year resident. Prior to residing in Foxboro she was a resident of the Netherlands. Mrs. Speelman was employed as a pneumatic instrument calibrator for the former Foxboro Company for more than 20 years prior to her retirement in 1999. She celebrated her faith at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro. Her favorite pastimes included sewing, cooking, reading and volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America. She leaves two daughters: Peggy Vacher and her husband, Thomas M. Vacher, of North Attleboro and Moreen Stearns and her husband, Andrew F. Stearns of Mansfield; six grandchildren: Monique Vacher of Pawtucket, RI; Heather Foos and her husband, Edward, of Pawtucket, RI; Shaun T. Vacher and his wife, Erika, of Matawan, New Jersey; Christopher T. Vacher and his fiancé, Stacy Krzyzewski, of North Attleboro; David N. Stearns of Mansfield and Katherine B. Stearns of Mansfield; three great grandchildren: James McCubbin, Jr. in Alabama; Cory Martinez of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Felicity Vacher of Matawan, New Jersey; three sisters: Hetty Scheurkogel and Threes Scheurkogel both in Holland and Nora Emanuel of Nokomis, Florida; a brother: Wim Scheurkogel of Holland and several extended family members and friends. Public visitation has been respectfully omitted. Strictly private funeral services will be held from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Kelly K. Thibeault, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, Old Post Road, North Attleboro, officiating. Burial will be private. Please do not send flowers.
