Ernest "Ernie" Paul Harrison

Ernest "Ernie" Paul Harrison, 89, of Plainville, peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family at the Madonna Manor in North Attleboro on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. He was the loving husband of Candida "Dina" M. (Pinocci) Harrison to whom he was wed on June 7, 1947. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on October 9, 1925, he was a son of the late Edmund and Anne (McGovern) Harrison. He was raised and educated in Attleboro and had resided in Norton before moving to Plainville more than 40 years ago. Mr. Harrison was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from October 4, 1943 until his honorable discharge on December 18, 1946 having achieved the rank of Seaman First Class. Mr. Harrison was employed for 31 years at the Dodgeville Finishing Company in the Dodgeville village of Attleboro and later worked for 20 years for Stern-Leach Company in Attleboro as a gold cutter until his retirement in 1992. A man of strong religious convictions, he was a longtime communicant of St. Martha's Roman Catholic Parish in Plainville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus - #404, Attleboro. As a proud veteran, Mr. Harrison was a member of Disabled American Veterans - Chapter 56, North Attleboro and the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Post #115, Attleboro. He was a member of the P.E.A.L. Club - People Enjoying Active Living in Attleboro and enjoyed the times spent at the Plainville Council on Aging Senior Center. Mr. Harrison was an ardent sports enthusiast, enjoyed the horse races and enjoyed dancing of all kinds, in particular, line dancing. In addition to his beloved wife of almost 68 years, he leaves a son: Wayne Peter Harrison and his wife, Charlene E. (Denis) Harrison, of Plainville; a daughter: Lisa Marie Lindo and her husband, Gary Lindo, of Dighton; four grandchildren: Matthew Wayne Harrison, Andrew Peter Harrison, Rebecca Villandry and Drew Lindo; four great grandchildren: Emma Jean Harrison, Benjamin Tyler Harrison, Olivia Rose Villandry and Sophia Marie Villandry; a brother: Edmund Harrison of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; two sisters: Lillian Seguin of Attleboro and Dorothy Monahan of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Alice Lojeck, Helen Therrian, Raymond Harrison, Roland Harrison, Kenneth Harrison, Mildred Harrison and Claire Roy. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off Route 95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to celebrate his life and faith on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 by joining the funeral cortege with Veteran's Honors at 8:30 AM at the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off Route 95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Martha's Roman Catholic Parish, 227 South Street - Route 1A, Plainville. Military honors will be bestowed following Mass in honor of Mr. Harrison's loyal and dedicated service to the United States Navy. Burial will be private at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Following church services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Please omit flowers.
