Emma Rosalia (Cabello) Bellido, 85, of Coral Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Florida, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's, leaving behind lives enriched by her hand and her heart. She was the beloved wife of the late J. Ildefonso Bellido, of New Britain, Connecticut, who pre-deceased her on March 6, 1988. Born on September 4, 1932 in Lima, Peru, she was the daughter of the late Ricardo Cabello Sifuentes and the late Teodora Rivero Bobarin. "Abuelita" or "tía Emma" was raised and educated in Peru where she was a licensed hair stylist by trade. Emma first visited the US in 1970, when she met the man she would eventually marry. She returned to Peru and then after a "correspondence courtship", returned in 1973, this time to marry her beloved "Ilde". They started their life together in marriage in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1974. They would have just 14 short but very happy years together. Emma was a warm, loving, and very caring woman of great faith and devotion. Caring and providing for her family meant everything to her. Although she was not blessed with any children of her own, she gave of herself many times over in helping to raise Ilde's son with him, her two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and in helping out with some of their children. She lived for family gatherings and her "cocina criolla" was where her light shone brightest. Those who were lucky enough to enjoy her meals were offered a wonderful window into authentic Peruvian cuisine. And that was a gift she was all too happy to share and pass along. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and was creative in working with papier-mâché, and she had more than a passing fancy in the intricate art of hand-crocheting. In the family, she was known as the oral archivist. She had a gift for recalling details and could relate the "who, what, where, when and why" of most family events, what everyone was wearing, and even what they had to eat or drink. And of course, she loved to sing ballads from the 1940s and 50s and knew all the lyrics to her favorite Peruvian "valses". Emma was the loving mother of Juan C. Bellido, of North Easton, Massachusetts. She able to spend part of her later years with him and his wife, Linda (Beaudette) Bellido, and from their very infancy, was the doting "Abuelita" to Zachary and Noah. She was the sister of Professor Pedro Cabello of San Paolo, Brazil. She was predeceased by her siblings: Ricardo Cabello, who passed in 1991, and Luis "Lucho" Cueva, who passed in 2015. She leaves her dear cousin Maria "Mosa" Bellido of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Lima, Peru, and Maria's children: Elstree and her family of Benson, Arizona; Vanessa and her family of Cooper City, Florida; and Peter of Margate, Florida. Emma is survived by her late brother Ricardo's children: Charo and her husband Francis Evangelista, of West Chester, Pennsylvania; Richard and his wife, Elide, and their children, Ricky and Sergio, of Fairfax, Virginia; Rocio and her husband, Renier Molenaar, and their children, Giza and Cory, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Roger and his family, of Poughquag, New York. She also leaves her very dearest relatives: Arturo and Emperatriz Bendezu, of Berlin, Connecticut, and their children, Luis, and his family of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Leslie, and her family, of Wethersfield, Connecticut; Manuel Renquifo of Orlando, Florida and his children Ricardo, Susanna, and Dora, and their respective families; and Bertrand and Georgette Beaudette of Manchester, New Hampshire, and the entire warm and very loving Beaudette family from New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Colorado. Finally, she leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and her extended family and dear friends throughout Peru and the US, and her many spiritual "sisters and brothers" of her Jehovah's Witnesses congregations in central Connecticut. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation and Celebration of Emma's Life on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Rotunda at Trinity-on-Main, 65 Main Street, New Britain, CT, followed by her family's Words of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please support the many local efforts to raise awareness of, and find a cure for, Alzheimer's.
