Elwood Roy Davis, 88, of Pleasant Street, Attleboro; formerly of Christopher Heights, South Main Street and Park Street, Attleboro; died on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Golden Living Center - Garden Place, Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Jane (Dowdall) Davis to whom he was married on August 31, 1946 and died on October 15, 2010. Born in Albany, Vermont on May 4, 1926, he was a son of the late Irving Carlton and Ila (Baird) Davis. Raised and educated in Vermont, Mr. Davis moved to the Chartley section of Norton in 1939 from Salem, NH. He was a resident of the City of Attleboro since 1955. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the World War II era and was the recipient of the Purple Heart among other commendations. Mr. Davis was employed as a milkman for Bliss Bros. Dairy, Inc. from 1948 until 1978. From 1978 until his retirement in 1991, he was employed as a machine operator for General Findings in Attleboro. A proud veteran, Mr. Davis a member of the Disabled American Veterans - Westcott Houghton # 56 in North Attleboro and the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Gilbert-Perry Post 115 in Attleboro. He was an ardent taxidermist and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and ten-pin bowling. He was the father of Jeffrey P. Davis and his wife, Michelle F. (Franklyn) Davis, in California; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; his siblings: Arlene Bates in Vermont and John (Anson) Davis in Connecticut and extended family members. He was the father of the late Daniel R. Davis. He was the brother of the late Carlton B. Davis, Wanda Anderson and Robert Davis. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Route 118 - Tremont Street, Rehoboth. Burial will follow.
