Elsie M. Stinson

Elsie M. (McKinnon) Stinson, known lovingly as "Nani", 83, of Colvin Street, Attleboro, died unexpectedly at her residence on Monday, March 19, 2012. She was the wife of the late Carl S. Stinson to whom she was married on June 23, 1945 and died on July 9, 2009. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on December 15, 1928, she was a daughter of the late James Neil and Rose (Gaudet) McKinnon. Raised and educated in Providence, Rhode Island, Mrs. Stinson resided in North Attleboro from 1959 - 1976 before moving to Kentucky and staying there between 1976 - 2000. She then returned to Massachusetts in 2000 and moved to Attleboro where she had lived for the past 12 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, North Attleboro. Mrs. Stinson was a faithful Christian. Mrs. Stinson was a member of the "Side Splitters" Square Dance Club and enjoyed traveling, trips to Foxwoods Resort and Casino, playing bingo, caring for others and time spent with her family. She leaves a daughter-in-law: Lillian M. (Garcia) Stinson, of Franklin, wife of her late son, Carl James Stinson; three grandchildren: Kimberly R. McKearney of Franklin; Kirk J. Stinson and his wife, Nicole Stinson, of Rehoboth and Kevin R. Stinson, Sr. and his wife, Lisa Stinson, of North Attleboro; six great grandchildren: Kaela, Kyle, Taylor and Brandon McKearney all of Franklin; Kevin R. Stinson, Jr. and Tori Stinson both of North Attleboro; two sisters: Colleen Joyce of North Providence, Rhode Island and Lorraine Schur and her husband, Jack Schur, of Warwick, Rhode Island; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jeanette Hooley and Jean Marie Corrigan. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Following visitation relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Children's room available during visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Stinson's name may be made to the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, Eden Hill, Stockbridge, MA 01263.
