Ellsworth Alden Pearl

Dr. Ellsworth "Cy" Alden Pearl, 82, died on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. He was the husband of Carol (Forbush) Pearl to whom he was married to on July 1, 1961 and was a 37 year resident of Middleboro, Massachusetts. Born in Revere, MA on March 19, 1931, he was a son of the late Alden and Corrine (Robideau) Pearl. He received his Doctorate of Public Health from NYU. Cy retired from the MA Dept of Public Health in 1988 as the superintendent of Paul A. Dever Developmental Center where he was a pioneer in the care of the Developmentally Disabled. He enjoyed sailing, skiing, cycling, jogging and crossword puzzles. In addition to his wife, Cy leaves his daughter: Amy Pearl O'Brien and her husband, Patrick O'Brien of Hamilton, New Jersey; a brother and sister: Richard Pearl of Merideth, New Hampshire; Priscilla Kochocki of Windham, Maine; two brothers-in law: Walter Forbush of South Yarmouth; Thomas Kostek of Hatfield; one granddaughter: Megan O'Brien of Hamilton, New Jersey; and many nieces, nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Fumelli Kostek. A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Middleboro, MA on November 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM.
