Ella (Bigger) Nickerson, 78, of East Falmouth, MA, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at her daughter's home in Taunton, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald L. Wilkerson and the late Melbourne S. Nickerson. Born on December 26, 1937 in Woburn, MA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander L. Bigger and the late Louise (Williams) Bigger.A resident of both East Falmouth and Taunton, MA, Ella worked for many years in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant, before retiring. She was a longtime faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Taunton, MA, where she served as a Teacher and Preacher.She enjoyed helping others in any way she could and took into her care and raised many grandchildren. She loved music and was always singing in the house. Getting her hair done and having a good meal was the highlight of her weekends. Ella took pride in staying healthy and exercised regularly along with taking many vitamins and herbal supplements. To all her grandkids and great grandkids she was fondly known as "Mummie down the Cape". What was most important to her was telling others about Jehovah God and the wonderful hope she and others can have in the future.Ella is survived by her seven loving children: Donald L. Wilkerson of Butner, NC; Robin L. (Wilkerson) Johnson of Boston, MA; Dawn L. (Wilkerson) Fox of Fall River, MA; Robert A. Wilkerson of Kansas City, MO; Mitchell W. Wilkerson of Warwick, RI; Diane Wilkerson of Taunton, MA; and Christopher B. Wilkerson of Clearwater, FL. She leaves sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild. She was the sister of June P. Bigger of Boston, MA. Ella is survived by many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by five brothers, six sisters, and two grandchildren.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Children's room is available during visitation.Those in need of a local ride to the visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation.
