Eli Albert Oriel ?Manny? St. Jean, 71, of Dean Street, Norton, died unexpectedly at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro on Monday, May 22, 2006. He was the husband of Lucille J. (Bourget) St. Jean to whom he was married on May 31, 1996. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on June 13, 1934, he was a son of the late Eli Stanislaus and Emily (Jacques) St. Jean. He was raised and educated in Attleboro and later lived in Central Falls and Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Rehoboth for 21 years prior to moving to Norton 16 years ago. Mr. St. Jean was a veteran of the United States Army having served from January 15, 1957 until his honorable discharge on January 8, 1959 as a Private ? 2. He later served with the Army Reserves. He was employed as a machinist for Carol Cable in Woonsocket, Rhode Island for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1994. He served as the president of the Local Chapter of the Steelworkers Union in Rhode Island. Since moving to Norton, he was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. One of his favorite pastimes was the time spent doing yard work around his home; however, his truest love and greatest satisfaction came from the time spent in the company of his much loved and adored family. He was an ardent supporter and fan of the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his wife of almost 10 years, he leaves his children: Linda D. Bush of Ladson, South Carolina; Lisa M. McDonough of Seekonk; Susan Y. Grocott and her husband, Allan Grocott, of Seekonk; Ricky E. St. Jean of Attleboro; Layna C. Whitney and her husband, Bruce Whitney, Jr., of Rehoboth; Tracy A. Parks and her husband, Timothy Parks, of Seekonk; Steven A. St. Jean and his wife, Elisa St. Jean, of Cumberland and Justin D. St. Jean of Norton; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; three sisters: Esther Dourant of Athens, Maine; Edith Vaillancourt of Winter Haven, Florida and Elaine George of Winter Haven, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Emily Passano, Eva Dwinell, Edward St. Jean and Elizabeth St. Jean. Visitation with Veteran?s Honors will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 2:00 ? 4:00 and 7:00 ? 9:00 PM in the ?Memorial Chapel? of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
