Eleanor G. (Baptista) Tansey, 75, of Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Wingate of Norton in Norton, MA,. She was the beloved wife of Thomas T. Tansey, to whom she was married on July 4, 1992.Born on June 20, 1941, in Taunton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Baptista and the late Margaret (Taggart) Baptista.A resident of Attleboro since 1984, she previously lived in Norton, MA. Eleanor worked for twenty-five years as a Press Operator for Doranco, Inc. in Attleboro Falls and Mansfield, MA, and had been employed by Swank, Inc. and at Ann's Place.Eleanor's greatest pride and joy was her family, with whom she truly loved spending time - whether simply gathering at the kitchen table or being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the beach, and had a special place in her heart for her faithful Chihuahuas: "Buddy" and the late "Taco".In addition to her husband, she leaves her cherished children: Priscilla A. Terrien and her husband, Philip J. Terrien, of Seekonk, MA; Brenda Valverde and her husband, Victor Valverde, of Plainville, MA; Gordon L. Hines, Jr. of Taunton, MA; William J. Hines of Middleboro, MA; and Kevin P. Hines of Attleboro, MA. She was the mother of the late Shirley A. Sylvia, who died in her infancy. She was the adoring grandmother of Renee, Ashley, Melissa, Meagan, Kalonie, Courtney, Ricky, MiKayla, Joey, Joshua and Hunter; and great-grandmother of Mikey, Layla, Matthew, and Autumn Eleanor Simmons - her "Baby" - who was like a soulmate and with whom she shared a truly unique bond. Eleanor was looking forward to the birth of a new great-grandson, Matthew D. Simmons, and a great-granddaughter, Nora Beth Hines. Eleanor was the sister of Frances A. Ulak of Norton, MA; Joseph Baptista, Jr. of Attleboro, MA; Margaret "Peggie" Harwell of FL; James E. Baptista of Lynn, MA; and George Baptista of NH. She leaves many nieces and nephews and friends.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, ¾ mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Burial will follow the funeral service in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.Children's room is available during visitation and during the funeral service.Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation.In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations may be made in Eleanor's memory to The Susan G.
