Eleanor M. Slawson

Eleanor M. (Smith) Slawson, 90, of North Attleboro and Marshfield, died on Saturday, February 12, 2011 in North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Ira E. Gene Slawson to whom she was married on September 15, 1951 and who died on August 7, 2003. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 19, 1920, Mrs. Slawson was the daughter of the late Alexander B. and Maud E. (Curtis) Smith. She was a graduate of the Dorchester High School for Girls and earned her Associates Degree from the former Colby Junior College. Mrs. Slawson resided in North Attleboro since 1955 having moved to the community from Boston. She was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family. Mrs. Slawson was a member of the Second Congregational Church and an associate member of the Candleberry Chapel both in Attleboro. At Second Congregational Church she was a member of the One Plus One Club. A social woman, she treasured the time spent gardening and was a member of the Angle Tree Garden Club in North Attleboro. Her favorite pastimes included time spent at the family home in Marshfield at the beach. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted and dedicated caregiver to family members and friends. Mrs. Slawson leaves two daughters: Susan S. Brown and her husband, Bret Brown, of North Attleboro and Karen L. Slawson of North Attleboro; two grandchildren: Alexander and Christopher Brown both of North Attleboro and her loyal beagle companion: Princess. She was predeceased by all of her siblings: Marion Desautels, Malcolm Smith and Helen Fellows. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service in Celebration of Her Life on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Candleberry Chapel, 381 South Main Street, Attleboro. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music Fund at Second Congregational Church, 50 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703 or to the Community VNA Hospice, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
