In Loving Memory of My Mother, Eleanor G. Habershaw (Bates) of Attleboro, MA (86)
May 6, 1936 - April 7, 2023

My Mother was “The Wind Beneath My Wings”. Growing up in poverty in rural Massachusetts, Eleanor showed incredible gifts as a caregiver, student, and thoughtful personality at a very young age. She immediately took on the role of parent to her two younger twin sisters at the age of 8, when her father passed and her family was forced to live on the single income of her eighth grade educated mother.

Eleanor attended a one room school house until the sixth grade. She was often viewed as a second teacher there, because she was academically talented and the eldest and only of her grade.
Eleanor moved to Attleboro for her middle school years, where she met the love of her life, her best friend, future husband, and lifelong partner in travel, aspirations, and family, Lawrence Habershaw. The two supported and inspired each other in every way during their more than 73 years together.

My mother had so many relatable qualities. She had a way of making everyone feel special. She had a gift at building others up and always gave her time to others when they needed it most. Eleanor was a talented cook, problem solver, mathematician, visionary, and Mother. Eleanor had an incredible work ethic and knew the value of education. Never having the opportunity to attend college herself, Eleanor fully supported both financially and personally my father’s attendance at Northeastern University, where he commuted and achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Besides her incredible work ethic alongside my father (as an equal partner) Eleanor always made time for her family. She hosted nearly every holiday in her home, cooking amazing meals for large crowds and creating tiny moments with her own two children. My mother gave me so many gifts of her time throughout her life. She dared to adopt a little girl and offer her so many memories that she never had herself. She was a phenomenal mother to both me and my adopted brother. A special woman who achieved the American Dream (together, with my father Lawrence Habershaw), but never lost sight of family values or where she came from. Eleanor always left a special place in the hearts of everyone she met!

Eleanor and Lawrence leave behind a legacy with many people from their former business Patronix, Inc. (formerly in Attleboro, Massachusetts, sold in 2016) where they eagerly offered jobs to many friends, family, and lovely employees.

Eleanor leaves behind so many who were inspired by her including, Nieces and Nephews; Sharon Forsman, Susan Boland, Robert Ferrara, Lawrence Ferrara, Stephen Ferrara, Arlene Jubert, Leslie Cassidy, Willliam Hutchinson, and so many more. Most importantly and most proud of her, Eleanor leaves behind her two Children; Kevin Habershaw and Karen Kraemer, Son in Law; Michael Kraemer, and her two favorite people, her Grandchildren; Jake Kraemer and Kyle Kraemer. So much more I would like to say…My mother will forever remain; loved, remembered, appreciated, and my hero!
