Eleanor Bessie Donly

Eleanor Bessie (Cheney) Donly, 96, of North Attleboro, went home to be in the loving arms of her dear Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Millbury CareOne Nursing Home in Millbury, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" H. Donly to whom she was married on October 11, 1947, and who died on April 6, 2001.Born on October 31, 1921, she lived a full, happy life on the Cheney farm homestead in Charlton, MA, before moving to North Attleboro, and continuing in constant service to her family, church and community.Bessie retired from the Balfour Company in Attleboro, MA, as head of shipping and receiving. She was a member of the North Attleboro First United Methodist Church, and was active in numerous organizations including the United Methodist Women, her Church choir, Odd Fellows, Balfour Gold Dusters, Lions Club, and the Rosalie Rebekah Lodge #116. She enjoyed going to her summer home and spending time with friends in Morden, Nova Scotia for many years.She is survived by her dear sister, Dorothy Cheney-Lund, of Millbury, MA; her wonderful friend Ron Precort and his loving family; her dear niece who cared for her, Linda F. Heller, of Wilmington, DE; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Bessie was predeceased by her siblings: Clarence G. Cheney, Harry H. Cheney, Chester A. Cheney, Russell W. Cheney, Ruth E. Stockman, Florence L. Ferguson, and Elizabeth Cheney.A Memorial Service will be held at the North Attleboro First United Methodist Church at a later date and time to be announced, followed by a Graveside Memorial Service.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bessie to the North Attleboro First United Methodist Church, 220 Hoppin Hill Ave, North Attleborough, MA 02760.
