Elaine L. (Lachapelle) Laferriere, 74, of North Smithfield, RI, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Summit Commons in Providence. She was the widow of Robert Laferriere. Born in Attleboro on November 9, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Lillian (Chartier) Lachapelle, she was educated at Sacred Heart School in North Attleboro and was a 1957 graduate of St. Jean Baptiste Academy in Pawtucket. She had lived in Plainville prior to moving to North Smithfield, and before that, had resided in Attleboro for 37 years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in North Attleboro. Ms. Laferriere worked in the Resource Center at Attleboro High School from 1970 to 1981. She was an accounts payable clerk for 17 years prior to retiring from Garelick Farms in 1999. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. Most important to her was her family and her beloved dog, Molly. Ms. Laferriere leaves three daughters: Denise M. Peixoto and her husband, Miguel F. of North Smithfield, RI, Sharon L. Dupont and her husband, Peter J. of North Attleboro, and Lori A. Howarth and her fiancé, Jonathan P. Gagnon of North Attleboro; six grandchildren: Jessica, Nicholas, Jenna, Katelyn, Kaleigh and Chelsea; three sisters: Claire Lachapelle of Warwick, Suzanne Houde and Linda Burchett of California; one brother: Robert Lachapelle of Plainville. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 8:30 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro with Reverend David Costa, Pastor, officiating. Private burial in the St. John's Cemetery in Attleboro.
