Edward Joseph Varin
March 3, 1928 — February 9, 2019
Edward "Eddie" Joseph Varin Sr., 90, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Veterans Medical Center in Providence, RI. He was the beloved longtime companion of Cindy Guilbeault of Attleboro.
Born on March 3, 1928 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late George J. Varin and the late Gertrude F. (White) Varin.
Eddie proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army and Merchant Marines. He worked for more than thirty years for the former Leedham Hardware Store in Attleboro, before retiring.
A resident of Attleboro for most of his life, he was a member of the American Legion there. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. More than anything, the center of his life was his family, and he cherished spending time with them.
In addition to his companion, Cindy, he leaves his loving children: Ronald E. Varin and his wife, Carol, of Beddington, ME; Michelle A. Minke of Attleboro, MA; Susan M. Davies and her husband, Rod, of Berlin, NH; Richard G. Varin and his wife, Michelle, of Cranston, RI; and Edward Joseph Varin Jr. of Pawtucket, RI. He was the adoring grandfather of nine grandchildren and the proud great-grandfather of four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers, and leaves numerous nieces and nephews and his extended family. Eddie was the former husband of Florence (Fredette) Varin of New Hampshire.
