Edward Peter, 53, of Moran Street, NorthAttleboro, died unexpectedly upon arrival at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro on Monday, September 16, 2013. He was the husband of Laurel L. (Crosman) Peter to whom he was married on August 4, 1984. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 27, 1959, he was a son of Patricia (Walsh) Peter of Stoughton and the late Gerhard Peter. He spent his childhood and youth in Stoughton where he was a 1977 graduate of Stoughton High School. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, where he received his certificate of graduation in 1982; attended Northern Virginia Community College, Fairfax, VA and received his Bachelor of Science degree in General Management /Human Resources in 1985 from Bridgewater State College. He held his Certified Compensation Professional and Global Remuneration Professional designations in his field of human resources. Currently, Mr. Peter was serving as the Senior Global Benefits Manager at Haemonetics in Braintree. He previously held the following positions: Global Benefits Manager- Trip Advisor, Newton; Global Benefits Manager-Sensata, Attleboro; Benefits Manager, Teknor Apex, Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Senior Benefits Analyst, Perkin Elmer, Wellesley; Corporate Benefits Manager, Thompson Steel Company, Canton; Senior Benefits Tech. - John Hancock; Civil Engineer, H. Gordon Associate, Reston, Virginia and Pilling and Associates, Dedham. Mr. Peter was a longtime member of the Central Congregational Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls where he served his church community as church treasurer, church deacon and Sunday school teacher. He resided in Herndon, Virginia before returning to Massachusetts and settling in North Attleboro in 1985. Ed enjoyed life. He took pride in remodeling his family's home since 1987-doing most of the work himself. Ed was always known to have a "project" on tap. Most recently, he made an outdoor kitchen where he and Kevin manned the barbeques for family cookouts. Family was everything to Ed. Ed and Laurel were seldom apart, thoroughly enjoying their time together. He loved to travel with his family, going most recently to London, England in July. The love of his life were his boys. Although not an athlete himself, he felt privileged to coach Dan in North Attleboro youth sports and being at the track to witness Kevin's throwing accomplishments. Ed was their Dad, friend, mentor and confidant. He was extremely proud of the men that they have become. In addition to his cherished wife of 29 years, he leaves two sons: Daniel L. Peter and his fiancé, Bethany N. Spheekas, of Haverhill and Kevin E. Peter, currently studying at UMASS-Lowell, of North Attleboro; his siblings: Kathleen Denneno and her husband, Mark, of West Bridgewater; Michael Peter of Stoughton; and Lawrence Peter and his wife, Robie of Mansfield; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Lillian and Lawrence Crosman of North Attleboro; his wife's siblings: Lin Chabra and her husband, Mark , of Reading; Lloyd Crosman and his wife, Kelly ,of Babylon, New York and Lawrence Crosman and his girlfriend, Kristine Krishtal, of North Attleboro. He had many nieces and nephews that he adored, each for their own unique personalities and as one nephew stated "Ed made every one of them feel like they were his kid.": Amy Ferranti, Daniel Heidke, Collin Ferranti, Jackie Sills, Kelsey Crosman, Connor Crosman, Erin Crosman, Cameron Crosman, Lily Crosman, Zachary Crosman, Carley Daniele, Christopher Daniele, Casey Chabra, Godson Michael Chabra, Stephanie Peter, Matthew Peter, Samantha Peter and Alex Denneno. He was the brother-in-law of the late Laurie J. Sills. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation. Those in need of a ride to visitation may simply call the funeral home directly at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Central Congregational Church, 115 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. Following church services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Peter's name may be made to the Ed Peter Track Scholarship Fund, c/o North Attleboro High School Athletic Department, 1 Wilson Witty Way, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
