Edward Parent, 89, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Mallon) Parent to whom he was wed on August 9, 1947.Born on June 8, 1927 in Fall River, MA, he grew up in Ocean Grove, MA. He was the son of the late Ovila Parent and the late Valeda (Bessette) Parent.Edward proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Navy. A Carpenter by trade until his retirement in 1990, he was employed for many years at Cumberland Engineering Co. in South Attleboro, MA and previously at Paris Construction Co., in Cumberland, RI. Edward was a resident of Pawtucket, RI for the past seventy years. He attended St. Leo the Great Church in Pawtucket, and then St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Attleboro, MA. He enjoyed camping, traveling, country music, everything Disney, being at the ocean, watching sailboats, and visiting Maine. He was always moved by the sight of the American flag, and delighted in dining on clam cakes, chowder and doughboys in Galilee and Narragansett, RI. More than anything, Edward valued time spent with his treasured family.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Joseph E. Parent and his wife, Priscilla R. (Dohring) Parent of Attleboro, MA; Kenneth Parent of Norridgewock, ME; Barbara A. (Parent) Lynch and her husband, Thomas M. Lynch, of North Attleboro, MA. He leaves his cherished eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Sandra Thibault and her husband, Ronald Thibault, of Tiverton, RI, and leaves several nieces and nephews.Edward was the loving father of the late James Parent and was predeceased by one brother and four sisters.
