Edward Fitzgerald McCrory, age 88, cherished husband of Catherine "Kay" (Harrold) McCrory of North Attleborough, MA died August 24 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 31, 1924, in Pawtucket, RI, son of late Pearl (Burton) and Edward F. McCrory, Sr. Besides his wife of 62 years, he leaves four daughters: Cathy LaFratta and her husband Don of North Attleborough; Tracy Sullivan and her husband Paul of Mansfield, MA; Ann Dillon of Eagle Mills, NY; Sue Jette and her husband Glenn of Old Lyme, CT; and two sons: Ned McCrory and his wife April of Wickford, RI, and Dan McCrory and his wife Laurie of Danielson, CT. Ed also leaves his grandchildren: Matt LaFratta and his wife Jeanine, Katie Scorpio and her husband Joe, and Nicole LaFratta; Kate and Alex Issa; Betsy and Drew Sullivan; Celia, Kathleen, and Pete Dillon; Nick, Lauren, and Ben Jette; Megan and Kaitlyn McCrory; and his great-grandson, Joey Scorpio. He is predeceased by his son-in-law Bob Dillon and two sisters: Margaret Ferraraccio and Madeline Healy. He was a 1942 graduate of St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI, and a 1949 graduate of Providence Collegehaving his years there interrupted from 1943-1946 to serve in the United States Army during World War II, including time spent in France and Germany. Ed was an executive in the food service industry for over thirty years, primarily with the Seiler Corporation and the Szabo Corporation. After retiring, he and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels for ten years in North Attleborough, and Ed did volunteer work with HESSCO Elder Services in the Financial Management program. The couple also traveled extensively. While a communicant of St. Mark's Parish in North Attleborough for 24 years, he taught CCD, was an Altar server and lector, and served as a Eucharistic minister at the Housing for the Elderly in Attleboro and North Attleborough. In the later years, he and Kay returned to St. Mary Parish where they had previously been parishioners for 25 years and where he had been a lector for many years and also served on the Parish Council. He enjoyed his many years as a charter member of the OMLC. He was also a member of The Voice of the Faithful. Ed's legacy of giving back to the community is carried on by his family. He was a wonderful storyteller, which kept his children enthralled during many long car rides. He instilled a love of nature and adventure amongst his children and grandchildren. He hiked Mount Washington several times, including as a Boy Scout leader, with his girlfriend (soon-to-be wife) and later with his children. All who knew him cherished his kind and gentle spirit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 28 at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Park Street, North Attleborough with Rev. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating. There will be no funeral cortege from the funeral home prior to the commencement of the funeral Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Attleborough. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
