Edward John Grygalonis

Edward John Grygalonis, 83, of Ellis Road, North Attleboro, a proud second generation farmer and retired lathe operator, died on Thursday evening, September 8, 2011 at the Boston Medical Center following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Lillian L. (Gemme) Grygalonis who died on December 11, 1991. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Karol and Rose (Uchkuronys) Grygalonis. He was raised and educated in North Providence, Rhode Island where he resided until moving to North Attleboro in 1946 and settling on the newly acquired family homestead and farm that would remain his home for the next 65 years. He worked alongside his father and mother on the family farm for decades and it was the beginning of his strong work ethic that continued for decades. In addition to working the land and raising livestock, Mr. Grygalonis was employed as a lathe operator for Crosby Valve in Wrentham from 1964 until his retirement at the age of 65 when he returned to farming fulltime. A man with great musical talents, in earlier years he treasured the time spent singing opera and playing the accordion and harmonica. He was happiest when working and enjoying the outdoors. An ardent reader, he also enjoyed fresh and salt water fishing, gardening and bowling. He leaves a daughter: Deborah A. Johnson and her husband, David R. Johnson, of North Attleboro; a son: Bruce E. Grygalonis and his longtime companion, Patricia (Andrews) Noble, of Attleboro Falls; a sister: Antonia Langille, wife of the late Gordon S. Langille, of Marstons Mills and Gulfport, Florida; a brother: John E. Grygalonis of Williamsburg, Virginia and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial gathering on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 10:00 10:30 AM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Childrens room available during the memorial gathering and time of reflection. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Time of Reflection and Remembrance immediately following visitation on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with his beloved son-in-law, Pastor David R. Johnson, officiating. Private burial in St. Marys Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro will take place prior to services on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Following funeral home services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Please omit flowers.
