Edward G. "Greg" Close, 61, of Franklin, Massachusetts, passed away on August 2, 2026 peacefully in his home surrounded by his beloved wife Deborah and his daughter Crystal. He was diagnosed with a rare 1 in a million appendiceal cancer in May of 2024. His cancer did not win, nor did it define him. He fought like a boss the whole time, with nothing but strength, resilience and determination.

Greg was Born on March 3, 1965, in Norwood, Massachusetts. Greg was the beloved son of the late David Close and the late Alicia Kapravy Henault. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and devotion to those he loved.

A graduate of Franklin High School, Greg dedicated his career to the food industry, a path that was far more than a profession to him, it was an art and a passion. Everyone who tried his cooking loved it. Over the years, he mastered his craft in many kitchens, developing a talent for making anything with skill and creativity. His seafood lasagna, a dish he prepared every Christmas, became a cherished family tradition. His clam chowder was also one of his many staple dishes. Driven to advance in his field, Greg pursued further education to become a food service director, a role in which he most recently served at Countryside in Milford, prior to that he was employed at Cedarwood Gardens.

He loved being on the water, whether he was fishing in Marshfield on his boat, or enjoying getaways to York Harbor, Maine, Aruba, and Onset Beach with his family.

Music held a special place in his heart, with classic rock being his favorite. He created his own songs and loved jamming out on his fender guitar. He loved watching Boston Sports, football and basketball being his favorites. Greg loved watching and going to the games, as well as throwing football parties. Him and his family have so many memories watching Tom Brady take the New England Patriots to 8 Super Bowls, winning 6 of them. Crystal and her dad always loved their "non-serious selfies" they would always take together, Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, and those moments together were the greatest joy of his life.

Greg was the devoted and loving husband of Deborah Close, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on beautiful memories, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. They are soul mates forever and always. Greg was the best dad in world. Crystal will forever be his little girl and he will forever be her hero . Greg had a heart of gold and a great sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need, and his steady willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was the most loving husband, father, brother, and friend, and his generosity touched countless lives. In addition to his loving wife Deborah, and his daughter, Crystal, Greg is survived by his siblings, Sherrie Lafferty and her husband Agie, Jerry Close and his wife Janet, Michael Close and his husband Roger, Roy McAge, Rhonda Dumond, Regina Varney. He is also survived by his father in lawJames Lee, his brother-in-laws Jimmy Lee, Tommy Lee, and Kevin Lee. And his sister-in-law Sherry Lee, as well as many nieces, nephews. Greg was predeceased by, Ronnie McAge. Rachel Gill and Priscilla Ficco Lee.
