Edward Copelan Ellis, Jr., 84, of Cliff Drive, North Attleboro, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Eloise J. (Reasor) Ellis, to whom he was wed on January 16, 1954. Born on January 29, 1931 in Monroe, GA, he was the son of Edward Copelan Ellis, Sr., and Florence (Day) Ellis. Edward lived in North Attleboro for many years, having previously residing in Attleboro, Texas and Minnesota, among other places. He was a graduate of Owatonna High School in MN, Class of 1949, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Edward proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1988 after working for many years at the L.G. Balfour Company in Attleboro, most recently as Vice-President of Manufacturing. He led an active life filled with many diverse interests, including a love of golf, going to the gym, and working on his home, his yard and his computer. He enjoyed travel and listening to jazz, and was an avid reader. Edward was the Past President of the L.G. Balfour Gold Dusters Association. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Eloise, he is survived by his daughter, Mary E. Fox, and her husband, Thomas A. Fox, of Attleboro, MA; two cherished grandchildren: Edward C. Ellis, IV of Houston, TX, and Justin K. Kwan of Boston, MA; and his sister: Sally (Ellis) Mitchell and her husband, George Mitchell, of Clemson, SC. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and his extended family. Edward was the father of the late Edward C. Ellis, III, who passed away on February 24, 2003, and the brother of the late Kate (Ellis) Heckman and Florence (Ellis) Gifford. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Thursday, December 31, 2015 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, ¾ mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service immediately following visitation on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Burial services will be privately held. Children's room is available during visitation and funeral service.
